Lewis Silkin

HLW

Salt & Pegram were appointed to guide Lewis Silkin through the process of product selection, specification to delivery and installation. The global Law Practice had grown organically in the former site on Chancery Lane and had never undertaken a full move, design and fit-out before. Working closely with their head of sustainability we carried out an audit of existing furniture with a view to making use of any products and ensuring a second life away from Lewis Silkin for items that wouldn’t be making the more. Each new piece was benchmarked against agreed sustainability criteria. Their new office is BREEAM Excellent.

Given the client’s unfamiliarity with the process we set up trial spaces in their old office for us to evaluate their patterns of behaviour and appreciation of certain types of furniture environment. Taking this data into project team workshops we were able to produce of long list of furniture that was then assessed through trials and several days of showroom visits. The short list followed from which we supported HLW in the selection of finishes prior to ordering. At each stage we managed the budget before finally negotiating savings on the clients behalf. Site logistics were made complicated by restriction placed by the landlord but we were able to deliver on time.
